what kind of hose is that?


My OBA keeps popping hoses because of the heat.

I am really not sure. I went to Home Depot and picked up a 300psi hose. I haven't had a problem yet. Sorry, I am not much help on that problem

How is your tank holding up under the tub, I was thinking about putting one there the other day after I realised how much wasted space was down there but was worried about boulder puncture.

2001 4.0L Wrangler Sport - 3.5" lift on 33's
1973 CJ5 360 - 4" lift on 35's
1982 CJ7 360 - 2" lift on 32's
1971 Series III E-type Jaguar V12 - no lift...

Nope problems to date. It looks like a scary place, but no rocks really get up there.

My wife just told me I have to keep the stock AC, so after searching around, I found a Mopar "V" twin piston ac compressor for free (everything is perfect on it). I can find 0 info on it, so if any one knows anything about it... I'll post pics as soon as I can find that fricken cord to hook the camera to the comp... Thanks.

How long does it take for the compressor to fill up the tank and what pressure are you running?

It takes me about 3 minutes at idle and about 2 mins at 2000..

I run 120# regulator on mine...

I know it's late, but here's the info I gained when I was doing my research back when. The sanden 508 is a 5 piston compressor that puts out 8cfm. the Sanden 709 is 7 piston putting out 9cfm. I've seen that the 709 does not require an external oiler. Dont know the truth. These figured compared to the popular York 210, which puts out 10cfm IIRC. I went with the 508 cause it was a direct bolt-in. Now if only I could muster the determination to actually install it.

You may want to consider using stainless braided air hose for the first few feet out of the compressor to stand up to the heat...otherwise you'll start melting and blowing your hose after a little while.

I dont know exactly which models they're in. I just looked for ones that had the same mounting holes/setup. I got mine from an XJ at my local P'n'P for $30. There's a ton of XJ's floating around that are old gov't vehicles. I'm assuming you can find them on wranglers, if you're lucky enough to find on intact at the JY. On car-part, a search for compressors for 95 Wranglers also yields 94-96 XJ's, so I'm assuming thats a safe range for a bolt-in. I guess it would depend on the year of your rig. Make sure it's in good shape and has a working clutch.

Take a wire from a fused iginition switch "on" source over to a on/off switch at the dash. Wire from the switch over to the pressure switch. The pressure switch is mostly a DPDT switch, so wire the hot wire to the terminal marked "C" or common. Take the other terminal that is marked "N/C" or "NC" or normal closed to the compressor. The compressor most likey has multiple terminal. Just keep testing the leads until you hear one that engages the clutch. Wire the lead that engages the clutch to the "N/C" of the pressure switch.
