I haven't, but I've considered it. I've seen the little tent cots and it would be pretty easy to make some rails for one of those.

I have a little trailer that matches my jeep that I was thinking about mounting one of those on, but they sure are expensive. The tent cots are alot cheaper and look like they'd do the job.

Here's the ultimate rooftop tent:

Could you make something that could use a safari type roof rack as the foundation?

that is very nice, too bad they dont do something for the XJ. i have a surco rack and im not sure if it would hold up to a tent being mounted to it.

Imagine having a date in there and your Well... you know!

Am I really the only one thats thunk such a thing?
What kind of supports/hinges do they use?

My .02

The thing costs like 100k! The tent retracts automatically. It has a Queen size matress, running water, even a toilet (uh, I'll just go in the woods, thanks.) all sorts of stuff for people with too much money.

looks like the jeep might do a wheelie if you have too many people sleeping at the back of the tent
