receiver mounted cargo 'rail'

Since I'm getting impatient waiting for the aftermarket manufacturers to come up with a roof rack for my Wrangler Umlimited, I came up with an idea of my own. I'm installing new bumpers front and rear that will both have a 2" receiver, so why not have an upright post that fits in each, connected with a rail of square tubing running over the top of the vehicle? I envision using this mainly to carry kayaks, but I think it could be adapted to other uses. The tube running the length of the vehicle would serve as a mounting point for racks of various kinds, depending on the intended use.

Ideally it would be made in 3 pieces that bolt or pin together- uprights for the front and rear, and the top rail.

It could be made more stable by tieing it in with the shackle mounts on the bumpers as well.

I would think something like this would be very simple to build. I'm not a welded, and I live in an 820 square foot condo, so my own ability to fabricate things is pretty limited.

Anyone have ideas, opinions, suggestions, or perhaps even an offer to work out a feasible design with me?
