Rear Upper YJ Shock Mounts

I recently began a YJ overhaul and found one upper rear shock mount is rusted out. Does anyone know of a company or individual that sells replacement upper shock mounts for the YJ's????

Or any ideas for replacing the upper rear shock mount.

Thanks

You could do something like this... YJ Wrangler Revolver Rear Shock Bar | TeraFlex Suspensions

I bet you could make it alot cheaper than buy it...

I just did this to both sides. It eliminates the water trap design and it puts the pin 4" further forward, which allows a longer shock for lifted vehicles. The upper photos dimpling from rust to the left of the new mount is the old mounts rust damage.

That idea looks great JeeperDon. How high did you make the brackets? Are they taller than the originals?

Thanks for the pics and info.

Crawl under your Jeep and look at how the tub is with respect to the shock pin. You will see that the pin can be moved forward about 4", but not really up. However, moving the pin to that position needs a taller tower off the frame to hold it, so it looks higher up in my photos, but it's not. They are not for everyone, since I recall the OEM fuel lines have the stupid design of being routed up on top of the frame and around the old shock tower. I did this prior to swapping frames (rust) so I routed the lines 'properly', against the frame inside wall all the way. My main design goal was a longer shock and no water/rust pockets.

The rust pocket is my main objective to get rid of.. I appreciate the info.

The tub is currently off the frame so I am unsure about the clearance issues. Thanks for the info. You have been a big help.
