I get them from McMasterCarr
Their part # is 5071A62 Cost about $50 shipped or so. You can find them a few bucks cheaper at places like Reid Supply but McMaster has always had them in stock and they arrive within about 36hrs.

Well, it's my extreme pleasure to say that BESRK has finished working on my bumper and has shipped it. Hopefully it'll reach me soon. I want to get it painted and mounted.
With this one, there were some specific things I wanted that weren't part of the normal deal, and I have to say Eddie's been fantastic to work with, very patient even with a picky layman like myself. I did some horrible Paint.NET mock-ups of what I wanted, and the finished product is very nearly that. First of all, I wanted reverse lights flush-mounted into the bumper. Later, I figured I wanted additional STT lights, too. I know I wanted a 4-pole trailer hook-up permanently mounted but out of the way, and all of this turned out to be a giant pain in the *** ![]() I spent many hours on the phone (yes, really) and the net trying to find some lights that could fit in the 2"x4" square tube that Eddie uses for his bumpers. A larger size would've opened up additional options, but that's not what he had, and I didn't want to have to buy him a whole new stick of tube just for that, especially with no guarantee that anyone else might want one along those lines, so I had to figure out something that would work. Eventually I settled on some particular 2"x6" oval LED lighting and crossed my fingers that it would actually fit, since it would be tight no matter what. Well, Eddie sent me these quick-n-dirty cell phone pics, and I nearly squealed with delight! I'll be taking and posting some higher-quality shots when it arrives, after painting, and after installation. Until then, check out his fine work! Note that the lights are not actually pushed in for the flush fit, as they're going to be a giant pain in the rear to pop back out when that day comes. You can see the trailer plug was a really tight fit, too. What do y'all think? At least it'll be both functional and fairly unique (for now). Can't wait to show you what it'll look like mounted! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks great!! Eddie shipped my bumper today as well so I'll be posting some pictures when I get it back from the powdercoaters in a week or so.

OK, so I'm prepping for receiving the bumper, and I'm thinking I'll probably hit it with some Hammered Black by Rustoleum. Any tips on preparation? I know I'll have to be touching it up when scratching and gouging it on the trail and such, so I'm thinking just sand the surface with about 180, wipe down with rubbing alcohol, tape off a spot or two where the CB antenna will mount, and shoot it with 2 or 3 coats of hammered black.
Will I really need to go with a coat of self-etching primer, two coats of surface primer, and three coats of paint, or will the easier plan be sufficient? ![]() EDIT: Also, how long should I leave it to dry between coats, and how long after the final coat before mounting on the Jeep? Are there any parts (besides the CB antenna mount) that I should specifically NOT paint? EDIT2: Ah, it looks like I didn't go over Eddies instructions completely, as he gives some tips and suggestions regarding painting. Coolio. Last edited by Deacon; 07-21-2009 at 05:08 PM.. |

For some disappointing reason, FedEx delayed getting the bumper and carrier pieces to me until tomorrow, when I'm going to be out of town. I've got a friend coming over to move them into my garage for me, so they should be waiting when I get back.
I got the box of goodies today, though, and holy **** these frame tie-ins and the part to which the tire itself is affixed are BEEFY. Talk about over-built. At least I know there won't be an issue with strength ![]() Pretty welds, btw! ![]() |

The last of my parts arrived by FedEx yesterday afternoon. After getting off my monkey suit after work I grabbed a beer and mock-fitted everything on the Jeep. I gotta hand it to Eddie... this thing is beefy! Everything checked out ok so I'll be drilling the extra holes in the crossmember this afternoon and heading over to the powdercoater's on Saturday morning

I've read this thread through twice and cannot compete with your skills
Besrk,
Please price a rear bumper for a '05 LJ with side protectors, the jerry can mount without the holder (i already have 2) and the hi-lift mount. I would also like to have another 2" receiver (maybe 4" long) added vertically to the top of the tire mount receiver to allow for a future removable storage rack or a kayak support. Keep up the good work. |
