I like to see those destaco clamps mounted at an angle like that. Not sure if you took that idea from my picts or posts way back, but I like it!!

No, I think I was the first one to use a truly angled DeStaCo latch. But, I give all the credit to BESRK for his inspiration and ideas.

My buddy has a welder, so at least i got that. You really build these things from scratch and then send them out requiring minimum assembly for us "novice/tool deprived" jeepers??
Super Easy to install. Just need to prep/paint or sandblast/powdercoat it.

The install was as easy as changing a tire.

Hey Eddie,

I'm seriously considering getting a 50" Light Bar to mount over the windshield on my TJ. Any idea if you could create some sort of protection for it and integrate something that would reduce hood glare? I'm thinking a 50" wide piece of metal with a 'U' bend to surround the light, then welded and closed on both sides, pre-drilled for mounting brackets, with the lower side sticking out further than the top side to create a shadow over most of the hood of the TJ. It probably needs to be vented and have some way to drain trapped water without causing a whistle while driving.

I'd be happy to have the light bar and mounting brackets shipped to you for fabrication, then you could ship them back or I could come pick them up, like I did with the bumpers you built for me.

I'm still in the planning stages on this, so this is just a 'feeler' to see if you would be interested in building it.

Thanks,

Shannon T.

Hey Shannon!

Hmmmm.. any way you could do a rough drawing? I think I'm visualizing it, but it helps to confirm with a drawing..

As for the whistling.. we wouldn't know until you got up to speed..

Would be an interesting build.. however, I probably wouldn't be able to get to it until later in August.. I'm pretty slammed with bumpers right now, and it looks like I may have to go TDY for a few weeks in July/Aug (for my dayjob).

I think that would end up being a big "air brake" if it's closed in the rear like that. The drag it would produce at highway speeds would be pretty substantial.

Might be more effective to do a bottom plate, top plate and side plates.. with the front and rear being open.

I saw someone put a plate underneath their bar that stuck out about an inch or so. I don't remember if it was welded onto the bar or made to bolt on with it
