Ohh, that is clever! Very compact when done too.

Are all four pieces half slotted or are two of the four full slotted?

Thanks! All 4 pieces were slotted.. makes it alot easier to put together. It's nothing fancy but I thought they looked kind of neat coming out of the blasting cabinet.. something about the smoothness of fresh blasted steel.

Excellent idea and another awesome product. For some reason I'm not surprised.

Good lookin' part. BTW, my tow bar/stinger continues to take a lot of abuse and only needs occasional touch up paint.

Truth be told, I've been so busy it kind of slipped my mind. I actually bought 2 sticks of small square tube to make a mount that protrudes thru the spare tire.. but got sidetracked.

I'll try to get back on it soon.

Hopefully someone can provide some assistance. I have my bumper built and have the pivot for the swing out installed. When building the swing out, do you weld the lower arm on the pivot first and then weld the rest to that or do you weld the swing out together and then weld it all to the pivot in one piece?

I weld the arm together by itself ("A" Frame pieces onto main swingarm). That will tend to pull up on the end of the arm a little bit.

I then drop my pivot into place in the bumper.

I then slide a couple 3/8" thick spacers under the swingarm and butt the arm up against the pivot tube.

I tack the swingarm to the pivot tube.. then tack the pivot spindle to the bumper.

I then remove the arm, weld the spindle into place.. and finish welding the arm to the pivot tube.

I'll be cranking one out on Saturday if you want to swing by the shop and check it out..

Awesome thread! I normally follow the earlycj5.net forum, but this site also rocks! Very good quality work besrk. Nothing speaks truer than word of mouth advertising, good or bad, and yours is all good! I'll be sending you a pm.

Less than a week until i get my GP Bumpers!

Will be taking a road trip next week to pick up my (son's) GP Bumpers.

Routing back through DC to show my son the monuments, then back home by Friday, so I can install them with my winch on Saturday.

Total will be about 2600 miles. Sure I could have shipped them for less than the cost in hotels and gas, but what fun would that be!

Looking forward to bonding with my 15yr old through this adventure!

Eddie, We will see you Wednesday evening!
