If the clunk is coming from the swingarm bouncing up/down on the spindle, maybe just installing a good pivot assembly with tapered bearings would suffice?.. Or even finding a way to tighten the current pivot? Not sure of the layout, but perhaps drilling/tapping the top of the pivot spindle for a bolt with a big washer.. that could be used to cinch the pivot tube/bushings down.

Finally getting ready to bolt my GPF swingout on. I believe there are some closeup pictures of the mounted frame tie-in brackets somewhere on this thread...if anybody has quick access, can you post again? Actually, I would appreciate any close up shots that would assist in installation (I'm a visual kinda guy).

Thanks in advance! Will post my own pic's once installed.

Frame tie-ins are not only for towing stuff, they are also good for recovery of either yourself or others.

Also, on tire carrier bumpers, tie ins are almost mandantory. Otherwise, the weight of the bumper/tire carrier will eventually crack the bolt holes in the thin crossmember. I've thought about bumping the price of the bumper/carrier up the same amount as the frame kit and just including them. However, there are alot of folks running around that already have frame kits.. so, I've always just offered them as an option.

But yeah.. towing, recovery, hitch mounted basket, tire carrier..etc. All good reasons to run tie ins.

this may sound dumb, but do you have a write up of a front bumper?

Good question. I don't have a writeup. However, there have been a few really nice writeups here in the Fabrication Forum. There are some random front bumper pics in this thread as well.

Eddie would it be possible to get a spindle kit, latch and hardware, and the J lock and spring knob thing from you for a buddies XJ bumper build?

Looking awesome as always...that press brake is a feat...there are some engineers graduating with me that couldnt begin to design much less build that.

Thanks

Aside from the time, how much did the swingout cost to make vs purchase?

It would depend on where you buy the stuff but somewhere around..

$50.. De Sta Co Latch shipped
$20.. Locking Pin for "J-Lock" type setup
$20.. Pivot Tube (Raw DOM)
$15.. Bearings/Seal
$20.. Spindle Shipped
$50-$75.. Steel

Keep in mind, when I look at "cost", I'm thinking raw material. Something like that Swingarm Pivot Tube is going to cost a lot more if you purchase it in a finished state.

Just sent you a PM.. sorry for the delay.. I've been dealing with this since Sunday. Caught a piece of metal smack dab in the center of my pupil. Thought is was "flashburn" so I held out until today before hitting the Hospital. Doc had to pick it out and polish out the rust ring..

This is what happens when you walk up to someone who's running a die grinder without your eye protection on..
