Have you made any changes from this design?

I have towed a boat with my GPF bumper. I do recommend the frame tie-in kit. IIRC, Eddie does not "rate" his bumpers for towing purposes due to liability, but I can assure you they can safely tow to the limits of what the Jeep can safely pull.

Sorry Eddie for answering your question.

Jeremy was correct about the towing..

As for changes.. most are pretty subtle. The bumper in that pic used a 2" square tube main arm. I now use 2"x3" rectangle tube. I also CNC plasma cut all the flat plates instead of cutting with a band saw and drilling in a drill press. Tire mounting plate is shaped a differently since I can cut it on the plasma table.

Basically, I've just "fine tuned" everything a bit..

About 40 years ago I bought a Jerry can holder, that I still have. I haven't seen anything like it in many years. It is still mounted to my CJ3A. Very simple design and works extremely well. Carried a Jerry can for 20 years and never lost one. It is a 4"x 1/8" plate, probable 24" long. It has a small curled up lip on the bottom to fit the lip around the bottom of he can and a 90 degree bent carrage bolt on the top to secure the can. No rattle no movement.

I'll post a picture this weekend. Somebody ought to make them again.

Yeah.. post pics...

The issue with catching the lower lip is that there are a lot of folks running plastic cans.. they're basically smooth on the bottom. Even the red Blitz Bases don't fit the plastic cans very well.. When they're full, they swell out a bit and get tight in the Blitz Base.

I just need to find a couple cans at a decent price. Northern wants $50 for a Blitz, and HF has some crappy one for like $35-$40. I already got my tire rack made to hold the tire and the cans and my jack. One of the cans will be hacked up into a toolbox.

Thanks for the thread, it helped a lot to build my tire carrier. I just got everything welded up tonight, going to paint it this weekend. It definitely wasn't fun cutting all the tubing with a angle grinder, at least I have a torch for cutting the holes out. I had a Hypertherm powermax 45 last year but sold it this spring, sure wish I would have keep it after building this.

S8credground, how did you mount the front license plate to work with the front receiver? Great pictures, BTW.

That is one good looking bumper Eddie!
