Question about bumper mounts

It seems like everyone uses 1/4 steel with gussets to attach the front bumper of a wj to the jeep itself through the frame holes in the front. It works great but I am trying to figure out why they don't just use angle iron. There is a reason I just don't know it lol. Can someone shed some insight

It's builders preference I'd guess I'm working on a zj bumper with 1/4 inch plate mounts. I've seen the angle iron ideas work and in theory they make mounting the winch plate easier. So it's up to you. It's your jeep so you have to go with whatever you can live with.

Thats the way most of the commercial ones do it because it's the simplest and most adjustable.

I shove box tube down the frame rails and call it good.
