My buddy and I were discussing the possibility of turning my TJ Into a pick up for under 4k Our idea is to cut the frame and tub right before the front of the rear tire well, and using the Rear 4" of the quarter panels to start the "cab". Then using some square tub and sheet metal to close it up. Cut the rear off the cage and now we have a semi finished cab Next step would be extend the frame rails by 24" and using fish plates for reinforcement. My next idea was to use an old bantam or military trailer as the truck bed. Similar to what frakenbrute was. I know we will have to get a custom rear driveshaft, extended brake lines and fuel lines, extend wires for the fuel pump, and brake / reverse lights. Along with having to probably relocate the part of the fuel take / fill. Just wondering if anyone has any input, ideas or suggestions? Oh and yes. My buddy has the mechanical knowledge. I can cut and weld.

You should start with this thread: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/wr...brute-2667202/
Jeff covers a lot more than what the title suggest, including using trailers as a bed. He's also a great resource for this sort of conversion, obviously. He always seems willing to answer questions, too.
