Possible to countersink taillights?

I am considering upgrading my tail lights to Rugged Ridge LED lights on my TJ. I am worried about such expensive lights though because if they break while wheeling I'm out $100... not $25.

Would it be possible to recess the taillights so that the lens is close to flush with the metal on the jeep? I wouldn't have any problem dremmeling out a rectangle but does the wheel well leave enough room for this?

Thank you

EDIT: I'm not sure about the exact LED lights that I am considering, but I am considering an LED upgrade.

Do those have reverse lights on them? Or are they only brake lights and turn signals?

Just brake, turn, and tail. some models do have white reverse lights, like genrights.

Those are indeed very affordable compared to some of the rectangle LED lights. I did just find this thread with photos of someone who did exactly what I am looking to do.

Jeeper Don recessed his stock tail lights. If you look around on here, he has posted quite a few pics of them.

I found a stock replacement LED lights. They are relatively cheep because they don't have the side marker and licence plate light like the legit jeep lights do. However, they would be perfect for syncing into the jeep because all of those things would be covered up.

Here is what I'm talking about. The lights are only $40 each, which means $80/pair... Much cheaper than most LED lights. http://www.superbrightleds.com/morei...tail-lamp/567/

Just make a template & cut the hole if you want to recess them. Not sure how he secured his. Shoot him a pm, he's a nice guy & could fill you in.

My 4" round LED tails were $15 each at Walmart. You can get a pair of 2" while LEDs for backup lights cheap as well.
