I bought a Huntsman element auto darkening hood, the guy said he has sold alot of them, and everybody seems real happy with them. I was looking at the miller digital elite which is 320, the huntsman element was 114 bucks.

Will the huntsman be ok?

Weld pics to follow this weekend!!
Well i just so happen to look up welding helmet on CL, found a new miller digital elite for 200 bucks, talked the guy down to 170. So looks like ill return the huntsman element.

I wanted the miller digital elite, i just couldnt justify price,

Here is one of my new body mount tabs that I welded on with my Hobart MIG gun. Those are uphill vertical welds.

It was sunny so i thought i would weld a little bit. Trying to get more comfortable with 7018. Newer welder here so all criticism is welcome.

I read in another post that you felt the heat was high. It could be also not adding enough filler metal. For an application like that I would run about 90 amps, scratch start also, and use 1/8" filler wire. Personally I would hold the filler wire a little vertical so more metal will melt into the puddle. I like to move my tungsten in kinda a "z" pattern. Moving from low to high, advancing on the low or bottom metal.
