I have been talking to Butch at Four Wheel Supply down there and we are looking at June or August. Anything in particular in that time frame that would be best that you would be available? Can't wait to see that area down there.

Holy thread resurection!!! Anyway, I am looking into this for down the road and my only question is, Do any of these cages, for example Zachv's, work with a hard top for the cold months?

Our cage addition kits are designed not to change any critical dimensions so soft and hard tops are not affected if you have stock tops. We did that white cage a few weekends ago and he had an aftermarket hard top that was also a targa top and we had to do some slight modifications to make everything work well.

how about a viking top? they go directly on the roll bars... would that be a problem?

That will still work. The front section will be a little tight on the spreaders, but it will keep them from a flappin in the breeze.

BTW,

, we are Viking dealers, so if you don't have that top yet we can hook you up.

Anyone have pics of frame tie-ins through tub mounted rockers? Did you also tie the cage into the rocker?

Cage in my '99 TJ, It's a through dash design. 6 point frame tie ins. The frame tie-ins are welded to the frame and then bolted through the tub. It used the stock main hoop and rear bars. I know this really isn't a super hardcore design but it met my needs, considerable increase in protection over a stock cage, Ease of entry/exit. Headroom for front and rear passengers. This cage works with my stock Hardtop or softop. I have my son riding in the back on some trail rides and we feel he's a lot safer now that we've put the cage in.

Either month should be fine.. I hit Crozet about once a month so I'll be wheeling both of those months

Since I'm about to do a cage for my wife's CJ5 this thread is perfect.. I was able to go back and browse thru it looking for some ideas. Plans are to do a typical A and B pillar with the spreaders converging at the center of the B pillar. No back seat so I can do an "X" and shoulder harness bar. Not sure what I want to do out back yet. Seats will mount to cage and all will be tied into the frame. Whole cage will be 1.75"x.120" DOM left over from my buggy build.
