New UN Opened 1977 craftsman torch

I just got a brand new, still in box and sealed 1977 craftsman OA torch set up with regulators, hoses and all. Is this possibly of any value or should I open it up and put it to use?

If you do decide to use it, have it checked out first by a welding supply. The hoses, O-rings in the torch and the diaphrams in the regulators might be dried out from it's age. This could cause gas leaks which will really "light up your day" so to speak. There is no real value as a collectors item, so you might as well use it. Good luck!

It's not worth much to collectors. But X2 on getting it checked out by a welding supply business because its a good possibility that all of the seals and o-rings are rotted but if its unopened, it still could be good depending on how the packaging held up.

Take some pics and post 'em. I'd like to see what it looks like.

Ill try to post pics. Had it all checked out and everything is good to go. Hooked it up and it works like any new torch should. It looks just like any new torch set, guess the technology has not changed much.

The only thing that's changed is the new torches have built in "flash-back arrestors".

I noticed that and got some while I was at the shop. So far so good. Just cut some 1/4 plate with it and it works great.
