One of the biggest things that's helped me with getting good welds was learning to keep some sort of rhythm going. Tap your other foot, hum to yourself, keep a beat in your head, whatever helps keep a steady rhythm going.

i think he meant stringers......stringers are a sort of technique..it just means running your pass with no wide weaving...stopping and going...dipping in n out of the puddle...etc...one consistant straight burning and filling pass with maybe a little Oascillating motion(little tiny circles) just enough to ensure good fusion and penetration on both sides of the weldment
