New Sliders Updated 2-7-07!

I've been thinking about this project for a while and I finally decided to get after it after purchasing may Kilby Air Boss kit. I used 2"x4"x3/16" steel tube and welded the ends shut. I welded in 1/4" NPT bungs to both side so I can tap in for air and pressure tested the tubes. I mounted them to the frame by using sandwich clamps like the jeepermans. I hope to get them painted next week some time.

[SIZE="2"]Here are some pics after the base Clear paint job. I do custom paint work on the side so I had some extra to spray on and I also added some grip trape on top. Also here is a pic of my custom rear swing out that I made into a tank as well. Enjoy!

They should! I made 2 passes to be sure. I took 4 years of welding classes in High school and got certified so I'm a fairly decent welder. If I hit them right and with enough pressure they may leak but I doubt it would ever blow the ends open.

Very nice! I plan on making the same type of sliders.

Any pics of the frame brackets?

They weigh in at 96lbs together.

Here you go! I need to clean up and shape the frame brackets a bit though. Also here is a pic of my steering skid. I welded a PSC gusset with a skull for a different twist. Enjoy!

How tough are those skids like that? Will the mount arms hold up to the weight? I have some 4x2 square left from my bumper build and would entertain making some like that. Just wonder if the arms will bend and let it hit the body.

Several brands are made like this with no issues. I can jump on them and use my high lift on them and they dont move. I may add some rubber bump stops on the support bars under the tub just in case they do. But I really doubt there will be an issue!

Cool. I like those and that will probably be my next project.

About how long are yours? I need to see if I have enough metal left over. Don't want to buy another 20' stick.

I plan on doing this myself. I'm currently getting mesurements and checking my materials at work, I work in a fabrication shop . I'm going to build rocker guards into the sliders. I will still have the sliders like you currently do, to the frame, but I will weld my rockers on top of the slider rails. I will post pics when I'm done

Are the frame brackets just 2x2 tube to 1/4 inch plate? - Great welding by the way, I hope to be there one day - just started!

Each side is 50" long and I used 3/8" plate for the frame brackets and 3/16" 2x2 for the braces to the frame. By the way thanks for all the kind words!
