My rock sliders for under $30...PICS

My brother in law got me the angle iron and tubing from his work, so i just had to buy the bolts/nuts, cutting/grinding wheels, paint and welding rods. They're made from 4"x4" 1/4" angle and 1.5"x1.5" 1/8" square tubing. I put a 3/16" plate on the inside to act as a backing plate for the bolts to go through. And no, they're not welded to the frame or attached to the body mounts. I know i know, flame on, but for me they are PLENTY sturdy enough.
My papaw had a stick welder i found in the garage, so i started playing around with it a couple weeks ago. I have wanted some sliders since i got the jeep, so i figured this would be a good 1st project for the welder.
Thanks

Cool, not normally a fan of the ones made of square tubing, but yours is an exception... Nice design

Thanks a lot! It seems that so many people make theirs using the round tubing, so i had to go different. I honestly couldnt be happier with the way they turned out.
I also put some gasket like material behind them and ran a bead of black silicone across the top groove. Hopefully it stays nice a dry behind them.

You just found a stick welder and said "I think I'll learn to weld and make me some sliders for my jeep"? Haha nice job man.

hoestly yeah, thats about how it went. Ive wanted some sliders since i got the jeep, and i knew the welder was there but never used it. I did a lot of reading and video watching, and then messed around with some scrap angle iron pieces. They're not perfect by no means BUT they're not too far from it!
thanks!

I'm not sure if its an issue with you, but that step part could get slick when it's wet. Some tread plate wouldn't be a bad idea.

92 xj on 235/75/15's. $2000 into a $400 dollar jeep.
