I recently got a MAPP gas torch. its the small little one foot tall one. no matter how much i turn the knob in the open direction, the flame wont get bigger than one inch. is that normal? i used a propane torch once and it was like 2-3 inches long.

What type of MAPP torch? One of them that looks just like a propane torch head, or a MAPP/Oxy torch kit? I have used both and with a normal propane style torch head the flame looks almost identical to propane. With the MAPP/oxy kit, about an inch is as big as it will get.
