Jerry Can Toolbox Writeup

OK here goes. this is my 1st write up so bear with me!! i will try to be as detailed as i can.i'll start with how then pics. i had an old jerrycan given to me, i tried to clean it to use,but there was to much rust in side. after many cleanings(to get old gas out) i filled half with water(safety). then with 4 in grinder with cut off wheel i found 2 straight edges(front& side seam)then cut the can open. after opening i put 2 shelfs in, thay had to stop 2in from side so door would close.(this worked great as it leaves room for longer tools).the shelfs have a 1in. lip,to help keep tools in place.as for the door hinge its a simple piano hinge. i welded small angle around door & door opening so i could put a seal around door(i used camper shell foam tape).as for the 2 latches i'm not sure what thay are called my dad had them in the garage.
then prime & paint! i hope this helps everyone wanting to do this
if you need more info just ask,i will try and help!! thanks guys! ok ok heres the pics, ENJOY!!!!

this has worked great for me,it holds most tools needed for a trail fix.
thanks for the interest in this simple mod.good luck

Very nice. How is the weather hold from it. Knowing you just did it...Maybe drill a few really small holes in the bottom so water doesn't collect and will be able to drain out. If the seal holds off well...I'm wrong. Good write up. Simple.

Good idea. It's very original (or at least I've never seen one before). I like it.

That is simply ingenious. I need to find myself a metal can now.

Great Idea!!

I have a rusty-inside jerry can that I have been debating on what to do with it. This just might be the answer.

Great!!!!
I was thinking of cuting the jerrycan around the top ,right underneath the handles, but this is clever too!
