Jeep tj rusty frame
I have a 2001 tj with the all to common frame rust above the tranny belly pan. It's not rotted thru but it flaked off from the pan being against the frame. I put t case drop kits on so it no longer rusts now. The major concern is on the inside of the frame. On the drivers side all the nutserts for the tranny mount rusted off that's how bad it's rusted on the inside. All I know is the inside is rusty I do not know now bad. I drilled drain holes on the bottom of the frame so the water no longer collects. But do yous think it will b ok to off road with? Nothing severe just small stuff. Thanks, Mahanoy

Also is it worth trying to weld pieces to strengthen it up or wait till it rots thru. I also plow with the jeep in the winter.

you can take a look at my build thread, just finished some frame repair in that area. yours doesnt sound as bad as mine, but it rusts from the inside out, so it may be worth investigation. i found a decent amount of thin areas

To be honest about this if you are worried about off-roading a vehicle. Then you should not be driving it on the road. Fix the problem before it gets worst. Then no worries about it safety.
