The ones in the first and third bays will run you around 350k-375k. They are both about 6-7 years old. The one in the 2nd bay is 10-11 years old and you can get in that one for 300k or so. The new 4500 watt Mitsubishi's run around 600 grand or so.

They really are amazing pieces of equipment. I can cut 1/4 mild steel at 125 ipm holding tolerances of .003", and you wouldnt have to touch it (no deburring period). The two higher priced rebuilt machines will cut it at 120 ipm or so.

We rebuild Mitsubishi lasers only. We have a little 4x8 table, 2000 watt laser we are going to be starting pretty soon. Those are low end, right around 100 grand

That's pretty cool!

I don't feel too bad though. My plasma table will cut 1/4" at about 60ipm (at 60amps) and hold about .010" tolerance. Does require some cleanup though.

I'm pretty happy with it for the $17K pricetag.

Absolutely! Its not like you can have one of these in your personal garage. We have a demo machine (a new one) in our showroom along w/ a 140 ton press brake, so I'll have some write ups in the near future. My first project is a steering box skid, made out of 1/4", maybe 5/16"

I used my plasma table to "build" a 48" Pressbrake.. not sure of the exact tonnage but it'll brake 48" of 3/16" in a 1.5" die pretty easy.. and bent 36" of 1/4" in a 2" die. Those bends only required about 45tons of oomph. Haven't really gone beyond that yet.

When you say rebuild...is that pumps, seals, laser assemblies? Impressive machine.

Oh the things I could build with one of those...

Cleaning, paint, fabricate (any damaged sheetmetal/panels is reverse engineered and made in house).

We do a full rebuild on the resonator, replace damaged electronics and drives on a case by case basis. All optics are replaced. We have about a 200 point checklist on these things. We offer a warranty on them as well, Mitsubishi is the only company in the US that will offer a warranty on used equipment.

And I do know the things that can be done with one

But can you put it on a shark, or angry sea bass?

I see no reason why not, the machine only weighs 12 tons or so, it would have to be one pissed off shark

Definitely gonna need a bigger boat.

So can the lasers mill or just cut flat steel?

These CO2 lasers are for cutting only. Like I posted above, they are expensive up front, but are great on consumables and cost of operation is much lower than your typical water jet or plasma/burning machine, or turret punch for that matter. Pluses for lasers are great accuracy and speed. Our machines are very reliable for thicknesses of one inch and lower. The cut when set up properly is dross free and there is little to no bevel in the parts. Just like anything else, you need to have the knowledge to set up and run one of these, but they are not difficult, even to program. You can etch as well, If you want to mill you need a mill.

Just to give you an idea of how far we take these things, here is another machine, we just started it on Monday. It has been torn down and cleaned, ready to start building it back up and testing it out!

I believe there is such a thing out there. The technology is fairly new, and I do not know a whole lot about it.
