Not to start the whole pipe vs tube debate, but all Home Depot has is black pipe for house stuff. Some people use it, but the sizing is different, it is measured by I.D. instead of O.D. To get "tube" you need to go to a steel supply yard.

pipe is NOT the same as tubing. pipe is supposed to have stuff flowing inside it, tubing is supposed to be used in structural applications.

for tube fenders you don't need DOM, you can easily get by with HREW or even Schedule 40 if you're cheap.

Personally, I'd get 1.25" or 1.5" x .120 wall HREW. Skin it with some 14, 15 or 16 guage plate and you're golden.

or you can buy the tube pre-bent for fenders here:

http://bluetorchfab.com/store/index.php?cPath=2_7

The DIY kit also comes with the plate needed

If you are looking to make a set yourself. Yes, 20 feet would be more than enough to build the project.

About 10' for the two rear fenders will give you enough with a little to spare. I don't have a clue about the front though. I have a set of rear tubes on my utility trailer.
