thats what i did i didn't weld them i bolted them threw the frame (grade 8 bolts) and put a 1/4 plate on the back side of the frame.

for my rear shocks i made a crossmember from frame to frame on the inside above the rear axle welded on shock tabs and done. i used sch 40 pipe and a hf pipe bender. you could do it with out a bender and just mitre the angles

]/--------\[ kinda like this

] frame
/ angle (bent pipe)
----- straight pipe

The same set up should work for the back also? as long as I have the clearance between the wheel and shock

I got the ford mounts in today, They are too long so they will have to be cut down.
I started the frame work today.
Removed the bracket that the lines run across ans removed the welded part across the top of the frame, all with a hammer, chisle and sawzall
I wrapped the gas lines in wet rags when using the saw
Next is the hard part on the inside of the frame where the original mount is rounded and welded to the frame, it all must go before the new mount goes on
I dont have a grinder, i think I have to buy one to remove the welds
Going to bolt and weld the new mounts to the frame

Just bought the Ryobi 4 inch hand held grinder and a few cutting wheels
Woulld it be better to grind off the welds or cut along the welds and grind them down later?
I have to buy a face shield tomorrow too
big plans for the weekend!!!!

grind along the weld flat with the frame the weld is prob like 1/2 deep whet you get that far chisle and hammer the weld should crack and remove the bracket and grind the remander of the weld down and paint

if you go out side you might run in to clearance issues with the tire

Heres the shock mount almost done
Have to buy the correct length bolts, get rid of the rust and paint
I used the cut down and shortened ford mount and also used the leftover parts for a backing plate
Im not sure if it needs to be welded
What size bolt/pin goes through the upper mount?
Used my grinder alot on this project
Many sparks, had to cover the gas lines in wet sections of jeans
The pass side dosent look to pretty so i may do that before it gets cold, I dont have a garage to work in,
Im happy with the outcome
I did all my cutting with a sawzall, Its hard to make straight cuts
