Home fab welding cart...

Looking to see who has fabbed up their own welding cart? I have access to about 50 FT of basically bed rail/frame and figured I would make my own cart. Looking for ideas.

So, if you have a home fabbed cart, post up some pics. Thanx

I started with and old metal table and put a 1/4" Plate on the top with casters on the bottom.

That looks great man. I will be looking into a welding table as well, but for now I need something to lug my welder/bottle/accessories out to the driveway from the basement (no garage). The outside door from my basement is in the neighbor's driveway, so I have to drag all of my gear out and around the house to my driveway .

I am looking for something that will do the job and take the beating of not being on 100% flat surfaces all the time. I already have the wheels in mind from tractor supply.

cart?

Naw, it's got a yellow plastic tub with black metal framing and steering handle. Looks just like Radio Flyer little kids wagon. Hey if she's not using it, why not? Just remove tub and make your own platform?

All the welding carts that I've seen have been fabricated on the fly. Make a frame for your machine to sit in, then make legs to hold it where you want it, then make a frame to attach the casters to, then a bottle holder/accessory shelf, etc.

You might want to check Miller and Lincoln's websites. Both have a 'projects' section that have plans for all kinds of stuff in them.

Mine was pieced together from scraps, it works ok, but the wheels are far too small.

This is not mine, but the overall coolest cart I have seen. I want one like this (and the machines to fill it up) http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=542925&highlight=welding+cart

That cart is , but it won't do what I need it to do. Mine has to be lower COG and able to move off of flat surface.

Wow! That cart is pretty trick. This was my first project when I bought my welder. Made it all from scraps as well. Used some Angle, Square tubing, Re-bar, Wire Mesh plate and Diamond Plate. Used some casters (wish they were a bit bigger) They all lock but the fronts only swivel I welded the back straight to prevent tipping. All in all I am happy with it does it's job and all it cost was so time. Once I get some bottles I am just going to add a plate to the back and make a strapping mechanism. This sounds to fit your needs, give it a shot.

Looks like a good starting idea. Any supports under the dimond plate or is it thick enough to hold the welder? My miller weights 80Lbs with spool and gun. I will probably over build the supports for the deck just to be safe. How does the wire mesh work for you? any slag build up on it?

As far as supports go on the top deck. I have two pieces of re bar to help distribute the load evenly. Plenty of support. I believe my small box is about
60-65lbs don't really remember. You can see one in the third picture just at the tip of the wire feed nozzle. No problems with the wire mesh at all.

HF sells 2 shelf metal carts for around $20. I've got 1 at each shop.
