I saw it done with a peice of poly or something like that on a buggy but havent done it myself.
it was done with 2 peices, split down the middle (with a spreader bar). the cage had tabs and he had these trick 1/4 turn connectors, like the ones used to hold race bike fiberglass on.
i used to have a picture of it but i dropped my external drive off my desk and now it doesnt read.

I have seen them on buggies before, the problem looks like connecting it to the windshield

Every home made one I have seen looked chessy. All were flat and did not meet up to the windshield frame correctly to look good. I knew a guy that built one from fiber glass that was not real bad. If you ever find a wrecked hard top I think that would be the way to go. I have contenplated fabbing one up many times but it is pretty far down in the importance of things for me right now.

I have been keeping my eyes open for a wrecked hard top, couldn't justify taking a sawzall to mine. I have a buddy that offered me his soft top for $40 though, could be interesting if I used the front part and had some aluminum to bolt onto it.

FYI those 1/4 turn connectors are called Camloc connectors.
You can get them from bsr products. They arent cheap though.

I plan on building one soon. I haven't decided on what material to use yet, maybe stainless or aluminum, depending on the price. So far I've just layed out a basic design with some cardboard.
I don't use hardtop or softtop anymore, so this would help block some of sun and light rain. And it would offer some extra protection in a roll.

I plan on making one also!!!!! But instead of aluminum or steel I think I might just run some 3/16 dark black tinted plastic. By using the plastic you can heat it up and roll it over the edges and conform it to your cage so it doesnt want to flop in the wind. What do you guys think about it???

There's a couple of pics in this thread (post number 5) of a Jeep with a cut down hard top. They aren't that good but maybe you can PM him...
