Handy tool for calculating tube strength (links/cages/etc)

We have a lot of people contact us with questions about material selection and safety of roll cages and other tube structures. We usually take the time to discuss the safety aspects of different choices and make recommendations based on our experience. This got us looking for a good, simple, accurate tool to predict the stresses in tubes and suspension links. We came up with nothing that was free, and nothing that was simple. So we went to coding and developed this:

https://www.roguefab.com/calculator.php

It takes some simple inputs like your load, tube size, and material type, and it gives you a safety factor and some straightforward discussion on what went into the calculation. It has many materials pre-loaded too, like 1026 DOM, 4130 chromoly, 1020 HREW.

Please let us know what you think and let us know if you would like to see anything added to the calculator.

I am going to put the "roll cage example" farther down on the page and put more emphasis on it being a single-tube calculator (since that is what it is).

I hope you guys can put it to use for comparing things and evaluating what material to build your frames with.
