Gas Tank Skid/Flat Belly Skid

Here are few picks of my skids I made. I havnt been on here much latley so thought I would go through and show some updates, especially since I get most of my ideas from here.

This thing fits the tank really snug.

Here's a few of the crossmember I made. I It hangs down2" from the frame. I rather of had it up more but that is as close as I could get it.

i plated it with 3/16" steel but I think I am going to cover that with some of that plastic that is supose to be really slippery on the rocks.

It is definatley strong, simple I dont know. I would say I had hard time bending everything and keeping other peices at the right angle. I think it would have went quiker if I just cut all of the peices seperate and then welded them together.

Oh, I thought thats what you did which is why I said it looked simple, because you didn't have to deal with bending the steel. But now that you mention it I can see where you did the bends. Wen I make mine I will probably just weld everything.

That to me would be the best and easiest way. All of my angles were all 90's or 45's. They all worked out well. The front of my tank was a really tight, I had to clearence my rear cross member about a 1/4" to get the back lip of the tub to slide down inside of it. That was the only problem I ran into mounting it. Beserk on here also did one and that is what gave me the idea of doing this one. Search and check his out!

That belly skid looks great!

I built a new crossmember, with the intention of adding a skid plate later, but now I think I'll redo the whole thing like yours.

I wish I would have seen yours before I made mine....
