Finished my rear bumper.

Finished this a week ago or so.

Started with this.

Cut out some holes.

Welded the mounts everywhere I could.

Decided to use Besrks method for the hinge.

Took to it with a lathe at work and got it looking pretty good.

Tight clearance.

Built some frame tie ins from 3/8" angle. I wouldn't do this again I would just buy some. Too much work.

Hi-Lift mount.

Didnt have access to a camera for a bit...

Same type of hold open latch.

Added a 3rd crossmember tie in even though the cross members weak.

Same latch setup Besrk uses.

upper support, put a 1/4" aluminum plate on the tailgate for when I back into stuff.

CB antenna bracket.

3rd brake light.

The lights are wired on a 3 way switch to come on with my reverse lights, or independently or off.

Nothing crazy new, Just a compilation of ideas that I liked. Big thanks to Besrk for doing the R&D

Nice!! Turned out great! How do you like that single sided "A" Frame setup?

Thanks!

I like the single sided A frame because it made mounting the hi lift really easy. Plus it keeps my options open for mounting a jerry can in that spot with less modification in the future. I was slightly concerned about the strength until I welded it up. Its stout as hell and I can shake the entire jeep with it.

Wow, just found this thread and it looks awesome man. Out of curiosity, why not add in another triangular support beam on the side with the hi-lift? I like all the cool little mods you added on too.

It leaves room for the hi lift mount. Also its less for me to cut out if I decide to mount a gas can back there. Its plenty stout with one. I was going to add some plate connecting the vertical piece and the swing arm but honestly I forgot.

My only issue so far is the paint job sucks big time. Not sure what I did wrong but it will come off too easily in my opinion. I did all my usual prep but used paint thinner to wipe it down instead of acetone which I though would be fine, but maybe not. Also it was a LOT more humid when I painted it vs other paint jobs I have done, so that is another possibility.

Looks pretty good. Instead of using a 3rd tie in at the weak x-member,
why not tie in to the frame underneath the frame rails with a couple tabs?

I did tie into the frame rails to the stock locations. Could have added a 2nd bolt down there pretty easily but I just bought premade tabs from Besrk.

The x member tie in was kind of an after thought. the receiver tube was already there so it just involved cutting it at the right distance and putting a scrap piece of plate back there.

I really like the look of that with the one diagonal support. What size tire was that exactly?

35" bighorn. Only 67lbs plus the rim so probalby 80ish total. I designed it so if I flip the tire plate I could fit a 40. Then after finishing it I realizied when I go to 40s I will be 8 lug so just have to make a new plate anyways. Oh well

You happen to have any pictures of your frame tie in setup with it mounted and all. I am going to be building some for my bumper here this weekend or next.
