Custom Winch Mount for WJ

I posted this in some other spots until I saw this.. tis' only my first day on JeepForum.
Anyhow- I have drafted up some 'brain storming' sketches for my Grand Cherokee- I would like to mount a winch on the front without using receiver hitch or purchasing a new bumper ($800+?!). I plan on using the same holes that the tow hook brackets use (6 bolts) and from my current understanding this is where an aftermarket bumper would mount anyhow.

My Goal:
1) maintain approach angle
2) minimize the amount of modifications to stock bumper
3) provide proper up/ down and lateral support (aka must be strong enough)
4) keep the winch UP.. thinking about midway up the grille
5) build in some skid protection for the lower part of the radiator

Here- http://i.imgur.com/gYUyf.jpg you can see the basic idea. Have yet to get to the actual measurement part as I need to confirm the mounting holes I want to use will work first. Also would like any advice out there for providing the structural strength I will need.
Thanks in advance!

Sub'd. I want to do this too, but I'm interested in doing the bumper along with it.

Edit to note: Over a year on this... did you come up with something? Found this on another thread while searching: http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-wj-...plate_1064.php

I want to take a closer look at how they mount this...

Not sure about the sub-frame supports on your WJ, here's how I did this on my XJ: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/t...build-1157408/

Any reason you have chosen against going the hidden winch mount route (search the WJ forum, I can't get a link to post on the iPad app)?
