Coilovers on a DD?

Figured someone in here could help me out, im wondering how coilovers perform on the street. Ive read about people saying they will heat up and not work properly, but that dosent really make any sense to me since they run them trophy trucks, and monster trucks. Does anybody have any insight to this, or have experience running them on the street. They would be in the front, with coil 4 link or leaf springs in the rear.

All they are is a high quality shock (normally) surrounded by the springs. They should be fine for street use provided the suspension is setup properly.. spring rates, antisway bar...etc.

X2. I ran coilovers up front, 4 linked rear with reg springs and shocks on my old DD, never any issues at all. Rode great.

They work fine, but need to be setup correctly. Just make sure whoever your buying them from knows what they will be going under so they can valve/pressure them for you. They can be very stiff/soft if not setup correctly and tuned for your vehicle.
