Archive for fab projects!

If you've built a bumper, rock slider, roll cage or whatever and you have instructions, blueprints, drawings, pictures of the build etc. Then post up to this thread and make it a quick and easy to find resource for others.
Thanks
bob

I'm another one to jump on the "make your on rock slider" bandwagon. I went to the hardware store yesterday and bought a 10' piece of 1/4" thick X 3" wide Angle Iron and 6 nuts/bolts per side. So far all I've done is cut down the iron into 2 separate 56" pieces and coated them with Undercoating/Satin black paint. I wish I would have done a pre-fit with them and cut down my edges for the flares beforehand though Going to remove my flares and get my holes and everything drilled after work this afternoon, got to make the cuts up front for the flare ext.'s and around the rear flare lip, drill holes then they're good to go

I'll take some pictures later when I start working on them later today. My next projects will be front and rear bumpers with hitch receivers and recovery points, and I'm going to toy around with the idea of custom rear shorty corners.

Fabrication is fun

Here's some some info on the rear bumper I made recently. The hinge is from AtoZ and the latch is a DE-STA-CO toggle clamp. I did deviate some from the dimensions that were originally planned (shown in drawing). The bumper (2x4x3/16" rectangular tubing w/ ends capped) was made a year or two before the tire carrier was added, hence the "fill holes note."

A guy seen my CJ5 in the CJ roll call thread and wanted to see a better pic of the doors I built for it. The door latches are not a great design but work well and keep the doors shut and don't rattle. I plan on fixing a better latch system in the future.
