Anyone built their own ARB-style bumper/bull-bar?

How difficult is it to custom build something like this?

I'd love to change my current stock bumper for one like this (not fond of tube bumpers), with recovery points and winch attachment, but not a single one exists for my truck (if it was a Jeep, I'd have 10 to choose from! ).

Is it really that difficult? I was figuring make a cardboard template, get some 2" thick (ok, maybe a bit less ) steel plate, cut it, and have a machine shop bend it (unless it's thin enough I can do it myself), then some welding, bondo and paint! Sounds time consuming, but not overly complicated ... am I just daydreaming?

edit - forgot to mention I'd do without the fog lights or flashers, maybe the hoop on top, but that's about it. Winch attachment would be just a 2" receiver.

easy with some time, box tubing, flatbar, DOM, a band saw, grinder, vise, welder, some string, a level, plasma cutter, etc

-Erik <--- spent about 60 hours making one similar to the 2nd one pictured
