60/40 bench front seat in a 1997 Tj.

After much thought I have decided to put a 60/40 bench seat in the front of my jeep. I've looked everywhere and can not find a good write up on this so I'm going to post up mine.

I will be pulling the bench seat out of a 2006 ford ranger in the morning & putting it in my jeep. I will post pictures to show you how I did it.

I wanted a cheap seat option to replace my current seats and this was the best I could come up with. You could seat 3 in front and I have never seen a jeep with a bench front seat.

Total est. cost $50

Should be interesting. Do you have an Automatic? That's the only issue I see, if you're shifting with a passenger in the middle it might be awkward. At least it was in an old pickup I drove at an old job.

Would love to see how this looks. I feel like the shifter and 4x4 lever would be in the way. Guess we'll wait and see

I got it put in with very little issues I'll post up pics when I get home.
It was a little more challenging then I thought it would be.
Steps I took.
1. Find a newer ford ranger bench seat.
2. Cut the brackets off the bottom of the ranger seats.
You will use the ranger sliders.
3. Remove you jeep seats from the floor brackets.
4. Remove the center console & remove the ebrake.
The ebrake will be relocated to a pedal style.
5. I cut 1x1" steal square tube and welded it to the bottom of the ranger seat sliders cut it a inch or do wider that the sliders.
6. Remover the ranger seat belts and bolt on the jeep belts. You can use a rear center seat belt out of a jeep cherokee for the middle.
7. Place the seats into the jeep and get them where you want them to be. Make sure you sliders are positioned to where you will have plenty of movement. Tack weld the bars to the bracket from you old seats (the ones bolted to the floor.)
8. Fully weld them in.driver side 1st.
9. Cut off your center console after the cup holders and re install.
10. Add ford ranger bench seat cover.

Both seats slide and fold and tumble on the passenger side works excellent.

Sounds awesome! Can you provide some info on how you did the ebrake relocation?
