Yep.. basically, I imported the JPEG of the Iriquois Brake, traced it in CAD. Separated the parts (arms, shackles..etc.) and then started tweaking everything to fit the 4x8 sheets of steel. Probably have about 8hrs into the CAD drawings.. alot of it just sitting there looking at the screen. All the "X"s were added last. Took about 5 minutes to draw them and lay them out where I wanted them..

Worked on that warped main punch plate today. I used a bottle jack and some chains to pull it straight and then welded one of the outer plates in place. The plate originally had a bow of about 3/4". Once I welded the outer plate in place, it was actually pulled back too far in the opposite direction by about 1/16". I'll fix that when I weld the opposite outer plate in place.

Here's the one outer plate in place..

Here's my straightedge laid up against the plate.. you can see how it pulled it up just a bit too far at the ends.. I'll take care of that when I do the other side..

Really enjoying this Hobart Ironman 230..

I'd guess just a rosette weld spot near the holes to keep the plates from separating?

Yeah.. they're just to tie the pivot tubes into the center plate with a little bit of weld..

As an afterthought. It would've worked better to cut the hole in the outer plates to leave about a 3/8" gap that could've been filled in with weld around the entire pivot tube.. oh well..

Got a little bit done this evening..Originally, I was just gonna laminate 2 pieces of 3/8" together for the shackles and arms. However, changed my mind and went with 3. I got one shackle welded up today and turned a couple pivot tubes for it. My son is gonna cut the rest of the pivot tubes tomorrow and we'll continue to weld stuff together.

Still waiting on the bushings..

How'd you like to bolt a set of these shackles under your YJ?

Just ordered $900 worth of hydraulic parts.. 5hp motor, pump, valve, couplers, reservoir, filter..etc.

Once I get it all situated, I'll pick up all the hoses.

Merry Xmas to me, Merry Xmas to me..

Cut some more 1/2" plate. I cut some additional material to add to the bottom of the main frame (to reduce deflection) and also cut the punch plate guide plates.

My crane.. straining..

Here's the guide plates in place. There will a strip of 1/4" thick plastic bolted to the inside of each plate to act as a "wear" plate for the punch plate. I just ordered the plastic a few minutes ago..

Along with the crane straining I see a nice addition riding along side the driver.
