What about using the existing upper hinge as a latch?

Hey im trying to finish my tailgate today im going to pick up the cables. How did you attach the cables inside the tub? And on the drivers side of the tailgate? I see passanger side of the tailgate is the angle iron. Not sure but.in the tub looks like maybe another self drilling or drilled a hole with nuts bolts and washers?

Tigertrack used 1/2" bolts, washers and nuts, bolted through the tub. Coyote used gate brackets screwed to the tub and the cables looped through them. Use angle iron on both sides of tail-gate.

I used an existing bolt from the tailgate latch mechanism.

What did you use for hinges? Looks like they have three bolts per side of the hinge it looks like.

Great idea, looks like it works well.
If any of you TJ guys that have done this still have the stock hinges sitting around and wouldn't mind getting rid of them shoot me a PM.

Inspired by this thread, I've done a similiar drop down tailgate using nutserts. Then I relocated the liscence plate to the center and added a led third brake light bar across the top of the edge. Then I had to add an in-bed tire carrier, which I wasn't happy with and ended up making a deck cover and securing the spare above it. Ok, I'm rambling... But just wanted to say thanks for inspiring one of my first mods.
