for a cheap nutsert tool you can take a piece of flat steel drill a hole the next size up from your bolt in it and use a longer bolt of that size with a couple washers between the head of the bolt and the flat then screw your nutsert on the back side and use a ratchet or i use a small impact to tighten it up just have to make sure you dont overdo it and strip it out i use one everyday at work to do these on semi trucks and trailers much cheaper and if you break it just get another bolt or a new piece of flat bar

still havent finished my build yet.... did you make that bracket on the inside of the gate (silver steel one with 6 bolts) or did you buy it somewhere?

(2) 90 silverado tailgate cables (or whatever else...i used 15" ones)
(1) little piece of angle iron (i used 3" of 1.5"x1/4")

i had some hardware laying around, but this should be around a $30 mod.

stuck torx bolts huh?

clean the surface of the bolt of with a drill bit

weld on an "L" that you can stick a cheater bar onto

break that sucker free

factory hinges off tailgate

used tab as a spacer to keep both sides level

pilot hole for center bolt on hinge (i came in 4" from the outsides)

hinges on

hinges completely on

used a 3" section of 1.5"x.25" angle for the passenger side

tested 360lbs without problem (my dad and I).
Doesn't the none latched side rattle and not close well?

What do you guys think about using an old set of hood hinges instead of buying gate hinges? I know they wouldn't have as many screws/bolts holding them on. Maybe a drill would make short work of that, just pop in a few more?

Oh, now that is a good idea. When I armor up my Jeep I think I will replace the ones I have now with hood hinges or door hinges.

Thanks Cooter.
