2005 jeep wrangler back seat track adjustment

Is there a way to move the back seat back the further 6inches to back window so there is more leg room for my kids? Can I simply move the seat brackets back to allow for this adjustment or is there an adjustable track that I can purchase and install to allow for such resolve? Any help would be grand. Thank you.

I did this on mine. I doubt you can do 6" easy though. I went back about 3" on mine by just re-drilling holes in the floor brackets. 3" made a world of difference. BTW, I have an LJ.

Moving 3" is okay for the seat belts on the sides, but you will also need to move the center mounted belt rearward or they will be way too short. I just used a 1/4" X 2" plate and drilled 2 holes in it 3" apart and bolted the one hole to the stock location and the belts to the second hole. Just watch when you drill through the floor so you don't drill into something you don't want a hole in!

To go 6" you'd need to probably move the rear seat belt locations on the sides. I have a friend who did a 3rd row seat on his 4dr JK and what he did was to install a roll bar extension where the new bar comes closer to the rear of the hard top. Sort of squared off the cage in the rear. Also, if you go all the way back you will want some sort of head rest to keep the kids heads from banging the glass and getting it all greasy.

Thank you very much. This is the information I've been looking for. Just have to recover from this shoulder surgery to I can get it done. Thanks again.
