2-door XJ Pillar Vents

I have this wild idea of installing vents into the pillars behind the quarter windows. Some 2-doors had vent windows, but they were right behind the front seats. My dogs often ride all the way in the back, and to allow air to flow all the way to the rear of the vehicle would be awesome. Plus, the slightly vent-looking moldings that were used here could actually have a function.

I have absolutely no idea how to make this a reality, however. They'd have to open and close, and seal tightly enough when closed not to be noisy/leaky. With the XJ being a unibody/uniframe, I'm also not sure if such a modification would affect structural integrity or not.

Any help or brainstorming would be much appreciated.

Structural questions aside, this is still going to be a challenging project. You'll have to breech 3 solid layers, the 'vent' trim on the outside, the sheet metal behind it, and the plastic trim on the inside. Then you'll need to fit all three with ductwork and seals and also come up with a weathertight means to close them off when needed.

It would have been cool though if Jeep had set us up with working rear quarter vents from the factory.

Two other ideas have been a vent in the roof like a sunroof but not as long/wide and wouldn't have to be glass--just something to pop open. Or modding the quarter windows to pop open at the back as a whole kinda like Caravan's have.
