You sure? The top end is the same, but the blocks are different. TJs had two different blocks, 97-99/00-06, XJs used the same block 96-01, but used two different heads, 96-99/00-01.
It would work, but it's not a bolt in ordeal. WJ engine swap would be more direct.
thx... that's what I was looking for. I was hoping I could use the same short block. GM has spoiled me with the V8 stuff all being interchangeable. My 4.0L engine sounds like a diesel its knocking so loud.
As much as I'd love to do a V8 swap, time is a big factor. I was looking for a quick fix for the 4.0L engine and then have the option of using the HP30 and AW4 later on. But I don't think it's going to be that easy.
I'll keep digging, but it's looking like I need to scrap that idea.
