SBC to SR4 what other trans options?

I have an 80 CJ7 with an SBC swap using the Iron Duke bellhousing to the stock SR4. While the SR4 is still going strong (as strong as a weak trans can be, LOL)- I want to start planning for the future.

I really like my D300 TC, and really don't relish the idea of a $500 adapter- are there any trans options that would be reliable and I could DIY an adapter or re-drill a bellhousing to make work?

Cheers!

~Kevin

Not a lot stronger than a sr4 but the Jeep t4/t5 and sr4 all share the same bolt pattern.
