well since yall left me hangin i decided to tackle it anyway

i know some of you have done this too so post up

pulled winch plate off

cut old crossmember out (dont even need it with the way my front bumper is

started un bolting the steering box bracket and the ****ing nutserts kept spinning. so i figured since i was going to be plating the frame anyway i may as well make it easy on myself

all the holes cut...scary

shaving the edge of the mount so i can push i as far forward as possible

before cleanup where the mount will sit

test fit with new frame plate

welding the bracket on (as long as nobody asks me how i plan to drill the front hole i'll be fine... i noticed that is going to be a problem while sitting here posting this)

and thats all further i got last night. i only had about 2 hrs to work while the GF watched a movie

Not bad. That frame was looking like Swiss cheese but it looks like you got it sorted out. Yeah nutserts are a huge pain. I usually blow the heads of the bolts off with my torch and then it makes short work of it. Then I just clean up the holes where they were fit new nuts and weld em in. That way it saves metal, but if you are adding metal to the frame like you did, then who cares right? Good job man, looks good

Thanks and yea the frame was a little trashed after all the removal lol. I wouldn't want to trust it to hold my steering together.

And i think that the plasma cutter became my new favorite tool again

Probably sent from under my broken heep

Word of warning. Those 4 top bolts retain fluid so if they are loose they will leak. Found out that after 1 drive. I wrapped each bolt in teflon tape until I couldn't see the threads anymore, tightened them down as tight as i felt safe then tacked a corner of each bolt to stop them from turning out.
