I held up a np231c front case to a 231j rear case and all the exterior bolt holes appear to match up, at most it appears you may need to grind out the side the bolt goes through a little (but i doubt it).

I just took a NP231C front half and put my 97 TJ NP231J rear and TeraFlex SYE rear together was, easy, see my 5.3 swap for pics. TheNP231c was from 89 S10 and also had wider chain and 6 planetaries. Simple Simple.

My 42rle just died so I am looking into swapping. I have a Super short sye on my jeep 231. Are you guys saying to mate the rear of our jeep 231 case to the chevy 231?
