ford 460 swap
I have a 75cj5 that has a trashed engine. I just recieved a ford 460 engine out of a camper and was wondering if anyone has tried to installing one. I know there will be some modifications but not totally sure what exactly and how much. I do however have the entire driveline from the cj5. it is not street legal so it would be just a weekend wheeling vehicle. Any help or hints would be appreciated.

That's a lot of motor to fit in a cj. I think you'll be better of buying something smaller and more common, especially if you're trying to keep cost down. Another AMC I6/V8, SBC, or Ford Windsor is what I would look for.

Not too familiar with the cj.. But I am in the process of swapping a sbf 302 in my yj.. And I am shocked at how much room is there.. A big block would be very tight. But would be very fun!!!

You can do it if you really put your mind to it. I installed a 460 in a Ford Falcon Ranchero compact pickup which was deemed "impossible" by everyone I asked. I took that challenge and made it happen. You can't be afraid to cut, hack, and weld a little though.

All it takes is money, time, and skill (or more money to hire a guy with it).
My opinion is, that is more engine than your CJ will ever need, and you would probably be better off with something smaller (cubic inches, and dimensions).
You can probably sell the 460 and use the funds for something a bit more tame.
I can't even imagine the (lack of) fuel economy!
