autometer speedo/np231 sending unit

I have all electric Auto meter gauges in my 97 v8 swapped tj everything hooked up but the electrical speedo, I am haveing
trouble finding a sending unit to buy so that the auto meter speedo can read it. auto meter told me it reads a different type of signal than stock form.
Any help in where to look would be great.

what type does it read? i'm unaware of any that read anything other than the square wave generated by most gear driven and hall effect sensor type vss units. perhaps it's a matter of voltages. you'll need to find out what signal they want for it.

Autometer makes what you need. Autometer PN 5291. It converts the stock output to what the Autometer gauge is looking for.

Not sure if it will do you any good but I am doing a V8 swap also and had a different situation. I found a company called Dakota Digital that seems to have an adapter for just about any application out there. Great customer service.
