I am in middle of v8 swap and like an idiot I have sold all old jeep power train not planing far enough head to know the output shaft for front on this gm transfer case is toward passenger side where my front diff is to driverside, what are some options out side of buying back np231 and $600 adapter from Novak?
Btw: 88 350 tbi 700r4 gm transfer case in 88 yj stock axles

Either a new front axle or a np241tcase. Im a little confused tho. An 88 should have had the np241already not a passenger drop case? Is it an older trans.

Not the jeep case. If the trans is really an 88 the 700r4 should have either had a np231c or np241c tcase behind it. These are both drivers drop cases.

I believe GM t cases switched to driver drop when they went IFS. My buddies solid axle 88 Blazer has a passenger drop np20(8?)

Oh, my bad. I got my trans and tcase from an 88 half ton truck. Which had the 241. And was also thinking of the s10 which had the 231. ( the s10 would have been a 4.3 tho not a 350) u are correct tho. Guess they didn't go full ifs till like 91. I don't know if a np241 will bolt to that trans? Someone else will have to answer that

87 gms had driver and pass side 241c transfer cases the pass side 241 is very rare. Could have a 208 or 205 tp. 88- 98 gms should have 241 drivers side drop. I run 350 Tbi 700r4 241 combo in my 88 yj. I did buy a sye for the 241 so far I like running the 241. Better than spending a lot on adapters.

get any Chevy 241 out of half ton 89+ and you'll be fine. Sell that 208(probably if pass drop). The CJ Dana 30 could work but for cost of axle, matching up hears and all that jazz I'd just swap cases. Besides the yj floor is meant to be driver drop, unless you body lift it will take a lot of hammering to fit. The Chevy 241 sits nice and flat anyway, the jeep ones are clocked down a bit more.
