This sparks my intrest, do know the weight of the motor, more than a 350 with cast head or less?
I ask cause I want to use it in the buggy but thats going to be a rear engine buggy and want to reduce or keep the weight of the 350 not add to much more.

I have a very fresh rebuilt 350 but without a intake. I say without a intake I should say I have a TBI intake.
They are good to run at any angle simple to wire but will restrict the power of my built 350.
So I then found a TPI set for the 350, but it changes all my belt routing as the TBI motors and TPI use differnet mounting hard ware, close but differnet enough.
And the TPI is a PIA to wire for a stand alone.

Now this motor come's up and I can get it for free, its complete even with a 4l80 two drive trans ( thats easy for me to swap to 4 wheel drive ). Sunday I'm going to start stripping the harness out, then monday I will cut it free.

Second question, what HP numbers we talking about with touching the motor, like a cam or computer mods?
Did you send your harness to Jim's performance or did you do it your self.

Maybe I should start another post, I feel I really jacking this out control.

Jason.

i dont really care lol jack all you want i steal your threads all the time lol

i sent my wiring to novak to get it done but in hind site i could easily have done it myself

power mods i know that with just a tune you can pull quite a bit of power from the GenIII engines. as for cam and stuff we'll see, i have a bored 6.0 (now 6.4) with a new cam and a bunch of other goodies about to go into the tow pig so we'll see how that goes

as for weight the newer engines are actually lighter than the older 350s. im guessing you have a truck engine correct? that would be the lq4 or the lq9 both of which have aluminum heads. i believe there is one year... 2001 maybe? that had cast iron heads and those are the heavy engines

here are some 6.0s
model | year | hp | torque
LQ4 | 02-07 | 300-325 | 360-370 | Base level 6.0L with iron block
LQ9 | 02-07 | 345 | 380 | HO or VortecMAX version
LY6 | 07 | 312-353 | 373-383 | Aluminum block, variable valve timing,
LS2 | 05- | 400 | 400 | 2005- Vette & GTO

genIII small blocks weigh in at around 470lbs
gen I and II weigh in at about 550lbs
and just for comparison the I6 is 515lbs

you mentioned keeping it light, i dont know how much your worried but the 4l80e weighs around 180lbs and the 4l60e weighs about 135. just for comparison. those are both dry weights with no torque converter

Thats the motor, I want to say the year of it is a 05-06 maybe newer but I dont think its older.

Its drive buy wire and as far as weight those numbers sound better than my 350 with cast heads. Are they LQ9's cast block's? This was motor is in a one ton bax van, so i'm guessing it probally the highest HP motor one could get in that year truck.
Just like when you would see 454's in bigger trucks rather than the 350.

Thanks, we need a motor thread on this site, yes Pirate has one but I visit here more.

Jason.

Lq9s have car blocks but nicer heads and flat top pistons only found in denalis and vortech max applications

my phone auto corrected one of my last posts... the lq9s have cast blocks not car blocks...

and its easier for me to run fly by cable because you dont need the whole electronic pedal assy which is a pita to mount. from what ive felt the fly by wire is a little quicker responding but in a bumpy rig it is terrible to drive due to your foot bouncing on the pedal a little

Learn anything from the 5.3 thread on pirate? I have a spread sheet I have been building for my swap. Insane how much info is out there but I'm working to learn as much as possible so I can try and avoid hitting the hurdles I have hit in the past that have cost me top $. Still trying to sell my SBC
