Lol... yeah that is funny.
I just notched the crossmember. Actually takes stress off the front shaft and damn near was stock angle.

So I ended up getting an np205 tcase today and bolted everything together. Total length is 36" to rear of the tcase. Original length was 41" to the rear of the 231 tcase. So it actually is 5" shorter. This should be great!

Well motor and trans are in. Still have to work on mount and skid plate. Got the slave and master cylinder set up and working. Had to shorten the rod 1 1/8" but works fine.

Well made a mount today and trans is bolted in. Was able to modify the skid plate. I wish that I had the motor 1" further forward but is what it is. I need to make a mount for the np205 for some extra support. Need to modify the tcase shifter but should be pretty easy.

Its getting there. Support mount for the tcase is done. Tcase shifter is in (had to bend down 9"). Need get yokes for the np205 and intake and carb. Manifolds need to go on and will be time to start wiring. Taking a day or two off. Tub off would of made things easier but also would of made more work too.

So for the record. I tried a set of shorty headers and they would empty right at the slave cyl. No way to use them. Truck manifolds work fine.

So im working on eliminating some wiring since no computer has been on this for ever. This is going to be carbed. Starter, alt and gauges is basically all I really need to keep.
How much if any of the wire mess next to the battery towards the passengers side. There are 2 service ports and 2 relays, pretty sure the one relay has to do with the ac that has been removed already.
