Messed with the suspension brackets a little today. Cut and trimmed a piece of 2" x 1/4" angle

Then I'll tie it into some 1/4" plate that will sit on top of the ballistic brackets. I'll then weld the round coil base to that.

On the drivers side basically going to build a third leg and then tie them all together with plate like the other side

Also used a spot weld cutter and seperated the rear fenders. Hopefully I'll get them cut out tomorrow.

A friend is moving out of his storage shed and needed a place to keep his welder so I quickly volunteered my house!

I wonder how the ride is on those springs compared to the XJ.

Got the front axle pulled and fired up the welder today. Only got the driver side finished. At the FD tomorrow, so hopefully I will get done mowing early Thurs. and can finish the pass side. Looked at the leaking freeze plugs and they are worse than I thought. Since the axle it out I'm going to go ahead and replace them all. Have a deal pending on my SBC and TH350. Suppose to be picked up on Sunday and should give me enough cash to get this rolling under its own power again.

Made a third "leg" so I can offset the coil seats. Traced the ballistic bracket onto a 4" x 1/4" piece os steel and then cut it out.

And then went to town...

Very cool.

Front looks ultra freaking wide. Are you going to swap to SRW hubs?

It's about 85.75" No plans to swap to SRW hubs now, maybe when I wear these tires out. I'll match the rear width with spacers.

What's the actual diameter on the 40s? I measured some 38.5 boggers at 36.5.

Laid the front frame plate template out on some 1/8" steel

Still need to trim them up a bit to fit better and drill rosette holes.

So is that around 3 inches of front stretch? Looks like the ticket to me.

Good to see you're keeping on this.

I think it's about 2-3. Once I get everything in place I'll measure the wheelbase and be able to figure it out. The rear is +3 now but may go to 4 if I use one of the offset spring perch holes.

My Barnes 4WD order arrived yesterday while I was at work. My other 2 orders should be here Monday, and of course I'm on duty again
