Scale is making it look as close to the real thing as possible, so it takes away from performance a little bit but still capable. The comp is builtfor crawler competitions, so they flex like crazy climb like no other and usually look completely like a rc car. I'll post pics shortly the difference between my comp and scaler
the post above me is a scaler, in the right picture it can pass as the real thing
Check out axialracing.com they have all the different models, the kits have to be put together and the rtr, rtc, and tr are ready to go with batteries... Also u can look at rccrawler.com and look in there. If I was gonna get into it again I would get the scx10 kit and build it my self, oh and all the trucks come with bodies some are painted others not
ok so if I buy an SCX-10 it says that it does not come with=
Radio:2 Channel Servos:1 (Standard Size)Speed Control Motor:540/550 SizeBattery:7.2v Stick Pack
How much will all this run me? and are they easy to assemble?
I just bought a used SCX-10 that didn't have the remote or receiver. I got a Traxxas TQ3 remote & receiver for $30 shipped to me on ebay that was brand new. You could get away with a TQ2 remote & receiver for a bit less.
I've priced the LiPo's at like $20 a pop for the 2200maH batteries.
Speed Control Motor (ESC I'm asssuming) I don't know about. I think you could get away with a generic one for like $20 also.
Last time I priced steering servo's, they have entry level ones at like $20.
Remember, you'll also need a battery charger.
If it were me, I'd look around your local Jeep club (being as alot of jeeper's have RC's), somebody may be able to hook you up. Also check the RC forums and ebay for deals. I bet you could get a decent priced setup with some used parts.
Jeeping - The art of getting dirty & going broke while slowly heading nowhere, and taking all day to do it.
97 XJ SE - DD/Light Trail Rig - The War Wagon
75 CJ5 with a badly chopped CJ7 Tub - Pandora
96 Land Rover Discovery - Black Dog; possible trail toy
If you go with that I would get the traxxis tq3 controller and reciever which is like $25 shipped off eBay, a servo is like $15-40 depending on the strenght of it, you will prolly want a crawler speed controller with the drag break which rooster has a good one for $85. And then a battery is $10-15. So there you are at like $160; when I get home I'll get all the websites and make you up a good list of parts
U could always get the trail ready and then replace the plastic links with metal when they break or just for the he'll of it, it's more than the kit but u don't have to try and come up with all the electronics
